Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, First Movement

It is tantalizing to a lover of music and mystery such as I to imagine that there are still Mozart compositions yet to be discovered.  How much more compelling then, is this notion that Wolfgang Mozart, while at the height of his powers, composed a symphony so beautiful that he used ink made of pure gold to set his notes to paper?

Mozart needed no such embellishments to etch his place in music history.  So why did he do it?  And why did his golden notes run away?  The mystery echoes and re-echoes through my brain.  I MUST FIND THOSE GOLDEN NOTES!  But how – when Mozart himself could not? I must begin my quest – as any good detective would – by reviewing the facts, and analyzing the adventures and achievements Mozart had in his short life.
